Statement

Hannah Evans - 17 year old, neurodiverse, visually impaired artist. I find it hard to communicate through language so use art and colour to express myself. I produce art though my own unique experimentation and style inspired by artists including Sir Anish Kapoor, Carla Black, Vincent Van Gogh, Bernat Klein, Jackson Pollock and many others. I see their work, study, learn then create my own work inspired by their techniques, plus science, space and experimentation. I further develop and experiment with additional media, ideas and new art techniques. As a result of my visual impairment, I think I see colour differently. I am the youngest ever Professional Member of the Scottish Artist Union, was awarded West Lothian 2022, best overall achievement in Art and have featured in 4 editions of Bulb Art and Science Magazine. My first selling exhibition in Cass Art Glasgow in February 2024 was featured in a fullpage Sunday post article, I was interviewed on radio about my exhibition and my exhibition was covered by several other newspapers. I had a subsequent 5 day exhibition in Livingston Designer Outlet and from these two debut selling exhibitions I sold sold over 50 artworks. Please enjoy my art and let it make you happy.

Biography

Hannah Evans is a 17 year old self taught artist. Hannah has been painting since she was 3 years old and has always described herself as an artist (not I will be an artist, instead I am an artist). Due to her learning disabilities Hannah does not do art at school as the curriculum has too much English and too prescriptive. Instead Hannah has been mentored in her art by her grandparents and has developed her own style and experiential art methods which create many of her strong images and her visual impairment helps her deliver vibrant, colourful, happy images. She is an abstract artist, but can also do traditional landscapes and flower scenes etc. She has been quoted in the media as one to watch.
